National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, MSU

Explore the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, one of the world.s top nuclear research facilities.

During this FREE 90 minute tour, you will:

  • Learn how our cyclotrons accelerate nuclei to half the speed of light
  • See how we smash nuclei into a target to produce rare isotopes
  • Discover ways those isotopes can explain what goes on in exploding stars and how the elements in your body were made
  • Meet scientists who are on the cutting edge of nuclear research
  • Witness demonstrations of superconductivity, radioactivity, and cryogenics
  • Get behind the scenes of a working laboratory the size of a football field

Each tour can accommodate ONLY 50 attendees on a first come, first serve basis. Click to register for the 9:00 a.m. Tour or the 10:45 a.m. Tour. Details on pick-up time, location of pick-up and return time will be given to attendees who sign up within two weeks of conference.

Come unwind after the conference with a complimentary wine and cheese reception at Impression 5 Science Center. Just a short walk (.2 mi) from the Lansing Center at 200 Museum Drive.

Michigan Brewing Company (MBC)

Want to find out how to make root beer with your class? Take a tour of a brewing company? Sample different beers and wines? Then the Michigan Brewing Company is the place you should be!

Starting with a tour of the brewery, we'll explain the entire beer making process from crushing the grains to stacking palats of beer. The tour will include a brief explanation of what MBC is doing with biodiesel and the MSU Biorefinery Training Center. The tour will be capped off with a tasting session of all of our craft brewed beers on tap. Full menu is available including appetizers and sandwiches.
