Key opportunity: Attend a K-7 Science Content Expectations Review Session

The draft version of the K-7 science grade level expectations were approved at the May 8, 2007 MDE Board meeting. You are now able to download a copy at: http://mi.gov/documents/mde/Item_C_194161_7.pdf You will note that they are not to be copied or distributed. They are just a draft version for the purpose of public comment. They are not to be used to develop curriculum. It is anticipated that they will go on-line for public review around May 14 and will continue through June 22. It is anticipated that the review online survey information will be found at: http://mi.gov/science or http://mi.gov/glce Definitive information on the online survey site will be available after May 14. The public review will be followed by a national review in July and August. The final documents will be presented to Superintendent Flanagan with a request for State Board of Education approval in November 2007. Statewide rollout sessions will begin after approval. Draft review meetings will take place throughout the state, through the Mathematics and Science Centers Network (MSC) for public discussion and review.
