Title:

5 Ways AI Can Deepen HUMAN Teaching & Learning

Description:

AI is transforming education—but will it be a blessing or a curse? Will it unlock new realms of discovery, or trap students in an endless series of screens? In this session, explore how AI can deepen human learning by fueling creativity, critical thinking, and real scientific inquiry. Discover how AI can actually amplify hands-on exploration, empowering teachers to help students engage more deeply with the wonderful world around them. Join us as we rethink AI’s role in science education and discover how to keep the human element at the heart of teaching and learning.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Evaluate AI’s role in the classroom and develop strategies to ensure it supports—not overshadows—the human element of teaching and learning.

  2. Understand how AI can enhance, rather than replace, hands-on scientific inquiry by fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

  3. Explore practical ways to integrate AI into science education while maintaining a balance between technology and real-world exploration.

About the Presenter:

Ben Talsma is a dynamic science educator with fifteen years of classroom experience.  His passion for inquiry learning led him to VAI, where he loves to support teachers and schools as they work to create classrooms that are memorable, meaningful, and FUN!
