Title:

“AMOUNTS TO COUNTS” Stoichiometry—as easy as falling off a tricycle: A follow up session to Bill’s Box

Brief description:

This webinar will feature a framework for teaching all levels of stoichiometry. This is adapted from the live presentation of “Bill’s Box” at the 61st Annual MSTA Conference and an article published in NSTA’s The Science Teacher. More than 2,000 teachers have downloaded the article. Chemistry teachers at the General through AP level find this simple but powerful tool helpful for challenging stoichiometry problems. The webinar includes nine (9) example problems that illustrate its broad application. Supporting activities are also described. Everything will be available for download.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how an analogy & organizing grid can be useful tools for teaching Chemistry.
  • Learn how these tools apply to formulas, equations, and mole-to-mole relationships.
  • Learn how these same tools can be applied to all stoichiometry problems.
  • Learn how these ideas can be applied to ICE problems.
  • Learn about related demos (2) & labs (3) that support engagement and understanding.

Speaker Bio:
